Aila with Åsah and her new hairstyle!!!!

not always easy..

It's quite tiring to have a puppy.. I forgot about all that, it was so long ago that Vazy was this small, and she was also very different. She was always depending on me and following me everywhere. I can't recall that she was running away on her own adventures, but rather quite contact seeking. But maybe that's just a reflection of what she's like now, maybe I've forgotten all the hard work I've done? It's also a bit harder cause Aila is not interested in food and tidbits! I remember teaching vazy lots of stuff with the clicker and some good food, eventhough she hardly ate her food, she always liked tidbits. good bits of cheese or sausage.. but aila barley even smells on a good piece of cheese! and she's the same when it comes to her food. we barley manage to get her to eat half of what she's supposed to. how come i get two dogs like that, is it something i've done? the thing is that Aila eats her food when there are other dogs around. but when she's alone,she just takes one bite and go on to other, more fun stuff. I'm not gonna do the same mistake as with vazy; starting to mix better tasting stuff in there. That just made her worse, cause she always thought she could have something better. i've tried most things now, but i guess i just have to be patient.. Patience is so important with dogs, and especially puppies. i'm so happy cause i've managed to be so patient, and not putting myself in a situation where i'm not in control. With the longline i can always stop her when she wants to go on her little adventures.. but when i don't have time to put it on, it's a bit harder. but instead of standing there and screaming, i'm just walking away, going indoors and shutting her out until she's whining loud to get in. when she goes to far i run away and hide, so that she's missing me. i play and encourage her a lot and she really loves it. sometimes i go down on the floor and look stupid acting like a dog, biting, barking and jumping around.. but she loves it! and it makes us have a good relationship, she seems to be looking up to me and she's not happy when she don't know where i am. luckily she's interested in playing, cause otherwise it would be hard to reward her when she's doing good. but some things are really easier with tidbits, i hope i can find something that she likes.. there is lots of other stuff going on, but if i'll start writing it all down i will end up writing a book. maybe i should?

A day, a week or maybe two?

It's easy to feel like we've been here for ages, especially when you wake up at 5.30 in the morning. It feels like Aila has been here for a long time already, she learnt and seen so much, but it's only two days since we came home.
I'll just put some photos to illustrate what I mean...

Long drive..

Now we’re back from our 4 day trip over 20 hours driving, 1600 km. Are we crazy to do that with snowstorm and mountain driving for a puppy? Maybe, but it was worth it. The kennel, Alddagas was all I hoped for and Ailas mum was so friendly and such a good and patient mum. Gunn Tove, who has the kennel, was a great host and all I expect in a good breeder. She was nice and patient, also very careful in choosing the right parents and doing such a good job with helping Linis raise the puppies. On the way home, Aila was calm and patient. She peed only when we stopped and soon started playing and jumping around. She is very curious and quite independent, so we keep her on the long line at all times, and I just have to hold it for her to choose to come back to a lot of felicitations. She really likes to play with us in the snow and was already after 5 minutes here, feeling like home. We really love her and she’s so far the perfect pup, now sleeping calmly on the side under the table, tired after the long trip here, maybe relieved we’ve finally stopped driving…

Getting ready

Now we're sitting here, the night before the trip to norway. everything is prepared, the snow is falling down. its gonna be a crazy trip, we have to get to kalix with summer tyres in all the crazy snow. and its gonna continue falling all day. i can't belive that it's april, when in lyon the leaves and flowers were popping out everywhere.

yesterday i spent hours trying to dig out the car from a mountain of snow. the wheels were stuck in the snow and the hardest part was to get it out from there. i can't believe that it started though, after six months in the northern cold.



it feels weird that in 2 days i'll be having Aila in my lap for the first time. what's she gonna be like? how big is she? it's hard to imagine anything, but i can still see, in front of me, some kind of blurr of black fur spinning around the room.



we'll get the first update of Ailas new life in a few days.



when it comes to vazy she's doing good chilling at mqthieu's parents in the south of france. she doesn't know that she'll have a new friend waiting for here when she gets here in a few months...

Alperna

Vi är fortfarande kvar i Lyon och i helgen tog vi hand om en Lapsk vallhund. Vi gick på långa promenader varje dag och i söndags åkte vi till alperna. Det var jättekul för hundarna att springa och leka i snön och de fick samtidigt vara med på restaurang och se en massa folk på snowboard och skidor. Vazy klarar ju alla situationer med ett stort lugn som vanligt, även fast hon älskar att bli galen i snön. Quori som vi tog hand om var mer ovan att vara med, hon var ganska orolig i bilen och ville inte ligga still på restaurangen. Hon skällde på skidåkarna, men klarade sig bra ändå.
